Few board games capture the serenity and strategic richness of the natural world like Cascadia. Designed by Randy Flynn and brought to life with the evocative art of Beth Sobel, Cascadia invites players to build harmonious ecosystems inspired by the Pacific Northwest. With its expansion Landmarks, the experience deepens, introducing natural wonders that add both beauty and scoring complexity.
But what if you could not only play in Cascadia… but hear it?
That’s exactly the idea behind Cascadia: A Wild Symphony — a unique audiovisual journey blending AI-generated music and paintings to bring the game’s landscapes and wildlife to life in a new, immersive way.

🎵 A Soundtrack Inspired by Ecosystems
Each track in the soundtrack corresponds to a key element from the game — from the iconic animals like bears and salmon to the diverse habitats of forest, river, and prairie. The compositions were generated with carefully crafted style tags and mood cues to reflect each animal’s behavior and each habitat’s mood:
- 🐻 Solitude of the Grizzly – A slow, majestic theme evoking strength and silence.
- 🦅 Sight of the Hawk – Light, soaring music with vast airspace and sharp focus.
- 🌲 Mysts of the Forest – A lush ambient soundscape dripping with mist and mystery.
- 🗿 Voice of the Landmarks – A sweeping, multi-movement piece combining all biomes.
The music aims to complement the game’s peaceful tone while reinforcing its ecological storytelling. Whether you’re setting up a game night or working with nature in the background, this soundtrack invites you to slow down and listen.
🖼️ Visuals That Mirror the Map
To elevate the experience, each song is paired with a 16:9 digital painting, generated using prompt-based AI tools to capture the exact mood of the music. These images are not just illustrations—they’re visual interpretations of the emotional and strategic experience of playing Cascadia.
Expect misty redwood forests, salmon leaping upstream, a fox in a sun-kissed prairie, and surreal panoramas where a waterfall meets a wetland bog beneath a hawk’s shadow. Each image follows a painterly style that echoes Beth Sobel’s original artwork while expanding it into new vistas.

🌿 About Cascadia (the Game)
Cascadia is a tile-laying and token-drafting game for 1–4 players (expandable to 6 with Landmarks), in which players build their own environments using hex tiles that represent habitats, and wildlife tokens representing bears, salmon, elk, foxes, and hawks.
The game is renowned for its:
- Accessible yet deep gameplay
- Solo and multiplayer modes
- High replayability with varied scoring conditions
- Eco-centric themes with a relaxing tone
The Landmarks expansion adds geographic wonder to each environment — allowing players to place special features like waterfalls and redwoods, which reward creative habitat building.
🌎 Why This Project?
Cascadia feels more than a game — it feels like a moment of stillness and intention in a noisy world. Creating this musical-visual project was a way to honor that spirit. By combining the game’s design with thematic audio and visuals, we hope to enhance your appreciation for both the game and the real-world ecosystems it celebrates.
🦉 May your landscapes be wild and your foxes well-positioned.
